Franko Tattoo

Franko’s beginnings in art were when he was still a child, at the age of 7 years old he used to draw his friends; he used to make drawings for my pals, he would draw their favorite superheroes and they were always delighted; he can remember children from other classrooms would come with their notebooks for him to draw and there would be long waiting lines, everyone wanted a superhero from Little Franko. This made him feel good, he is Cuban and drawing was the only way a child from that region could have his idols in posters back then. He grew up and, while his friends were playing sports, he became more committed to drawing.

His first achievement was entering art school, in the plastic arts specialty program. He got closer to several art manifestations and music became his second passion. He was able to develop his skills as a plastic artist, which led him to obtain several awards and recognitions. When he finished school he joined a funk hip hop fusion band called “Calle libre”, however he always continued working with several artists in the visual arts; from whom he learned a lot, like Jorge Dumenigo.

After a very hard journey, he managed to get to the United States, where art was also his weapon and shield, in order to survive. He started painting murals in New York City where he had the opportunity to meet a great friend and mentor in the art of tattooing: Johnny Ford. He found out at that moment that his great passion was to capture on people’s skin what was important for them. It was that art that doesn’t die in a gallery, but you can find it anywhere, he says. He quitted all his other projects and he immersed himself in that beautiful world of tattooing; today I have reached great achievements by pursuing what he discovered was his dream job. He already has 20 years of artistic experience and more than 3000 completed works and he knows that he belongs here.
